2012 Art in the Park Program
“Fine Art in a Fine Place”
May 26 & May 27, 2012
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Nestled amongst the oaks in beautiful Libbey Park (Ojai, California), a natural setting is created to showcase the rich mixture of works in a variety of mediums. Art in the Park has enjoyed a long tradition of displaying quality art. Presented by the Ojai Art Center, the oldest non-profit art center in California, the festival attracts artists from near and far. The relaxed atmosphere and approachable artists draws crowds (between 3,000 – 5,000) from Ojai and neighboring communities.
In addition to the fine art exhibits, Art in the Park (celebrating its 35th year), has expanded to include the following areas which are available for sponsorship:
Young Patrons Gallery
Devoted exclusively to children, this tented gallery features artwork donated by local artists. Docents help children experience the thrill of selecting their first piece of art in a gallery-like setting.
High School Student Exhibition Area
Art in the Park provides high school art students the opportunity to interact with the public and sell their art pieces. Students gain great real-life experience creating their displays, marketing their works and making what is often their first (of many!) sale.
Youth Art Workshops
Hands on workshops taught by local artists help children learn special techniques. A variety of mediums are represented and can include: acrylic, pastel, watercolor, glass, wood and ceramics. It’s magical to see young faces as they create their own works of art.
Art Demonstrations for Adults
Workshops are not offered only for children, adults also take advantage of learning from the best. Whether novice or professional, the art demonstrations have encouraged and embellished many artists’ style.
Food Lounge
Take in the local flavor by tasting some fun and fancy culinary treats.
Wine Tasting Pavilion
In addition to fine art, the festival will share some of the local fine wine which can be enjoyed by adults as part of the Ojai experience.
Music Venue
Take a break from the art exhibits and relax under the oaks while listening to some of the best musicians in the area.
