The Literary Branch meets the second Monday of the month in the Gallery at 7:00 p.m. Diverse and interesting programs featuring writers, poets and playwrights who speak on their projects and the process.

Under the guidance of past Ojai Art Center vice president and Literary Branch chair, Joan Raymund, the Literary Branch produced 15 issues of Rivertalk, a poetry anthology written by area poets. Copies of Rivertalk’s are available at the Art Center and at local bookstores.

On Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. we will present a WordFest Literary Potpourri. Five authors will read from a captivating sample of novels and memoirs currently being workshopped at Doc and Zoe Murdock’s Writing Workshop. Therese Marie Duncan’s memoir deals with the anxiety and confusion caused by the incest that has taken place in a large Catholic family. Jeffrey Lawson writes about growing up in a world of famous writers with radical views and big egos. Vieva Kendig writes about a woman who must put her life on hold to take care of her aging father. Dana Huse will read from his hilarious romp through the Soviet embassy. Ilona Scott has written a tribute to her parents who met and fell in love in a prison camp during World War II. Refreshments will be provided. Suggested donation $5.
