First and foremost, best wishes to all of our members and their families
during the holidays. May your hearths and hearts be warm and the spirit
of the season fill both.
THEATRE
A big thanks to the cast and crew of 110 in the Shade. Great efforts
by all. Thanks to Jaye Hersh and the talented actors, musicians, and
back stage personnel for 6 weekends of music and fun. Your hardwork
and talent are greatly appreciated.
The 2007 season closes with a bang!. The cast and crew of "It’s
a Wonderful Life" are indeed having a wonderful time working
on this year’s holiday show, a staged version of the classic Frank
Capra movie. Directed by Buddy Wilds and starring Peter Fox in the
Jimmy Stewart role of George Bailey, the play will open Friday December
14, running 6 performances only, closing on Sunday December 23. Times
are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2p.m. For more info and

The 2008 season includes a new and exciting concept - a Playwrights’s
Showcase. The first- one- ever will feature Ojai resident Peter Fox’s
"Acts of God". Acts of God will run
March 21 to April 19. The play is a clever and amusing look at some
weighty issues. Auditions will be
Saturday January 12, 12 to 2 p.m. and Sunday January 13, 12 to 2 p.m.

Save the date... The annual Theatre Branch social and season preview will
be Wednesday January 9 at 7 p.m. Look forward to this.
ART
Another first.. It has been suggested for many years we have a wreath exhibit.
Here it is -
"The Wonder of Wreaths". Artists
are invited to submit imaginative, non-perishable three dimensional wreaths
to be displayed throughout the month of December. Take in date is
Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The entry fee is $10 each
or 3 for $25.
Reception for artists and friends is Sunday December
16, 1- 3 p.m. Wreaths are a unique artistic expression good
for the holidays or all year long.
DANCE
Start the year off with danicing. Monday, December
31 we will have a New Year’s Eve Contra
Dance, 8:30 p.m. -12:30 a.m. The
music will be provided by the band Bonfire with Bonnie Insull on flute,
Rich Scher on piano and Emil Olguin on mandolin. The caller will be
Warren Blier. Introductory workshop and hor’s d’oeuvres
at 8 p.m. Admission is $15 and includes gourmet refreshments.
Party on!!!!
LITERARY
Everyone is invited to a holiday party Monday, December
10 at 7 p.m. in the gallery.
There will be refreshments and a reading of Dylan Thomas’s “A
Child’s Christmas in Wales” followed by a discussion about
writing and suggestions for possible programs for 2008. Free.
Thanks to Liz Grumette and all those involved in last month’s poetry
night. Quite an
enjoyable evening!!!!
MISCELLANEOUS
It’s not too late to purchase season tickets for our theatre.
The 2008 year features a tremendous scope from acts of God to down a rabbit
hole, a visit to France, to River City, ending with a homage to “It’s
a Wonderful Life”. There are 5 main shows and 3 extras. (Don’t
miss the preview on Wed, Jan 9.) Season tickets
