Photography
Photography became a Branch of the Ojai Center for the Arts in June 2003 with the goal of exploring the ever-expanding art of photography,encouraging image creativity among both professional and amateur photographers, and being an artistic and enriching element of our community.
The Photography Branch provides a source of information for youth and adults to further advance the knowledge and appreciation of this art form.
This month the Art Center’s main gallery is proud to present a photographic exhibit,”SOLITUDE.”
The theme for our eight annual juried exhibition is focused on depicting moments of peace, calmness, singularity, loneliness or isolation.
Suggested by member, Myrna Cambianica, the theme was chosen in reaction to the contentious national political environment, foreign wars and social upheaval worldwide. She wanted to emphasize the positive side of solitude–peace, calmness, mindfulness–to create a contrasting island of sanity.
The show was also open to the negative aspects of solitude, loneliness, alienation, isolation, as such images in the social documentary field have a rich tradition. Come enjoy the highly regarded exhibit.
