After making art and music for over 20 years, Domonic Dean Breaux moved to Ojai in 2017, bringing a wry urban sensibility to his new home, through works which combine shades of Ed Ruscha, David Hockney, Georgie O’Keefe, Man Ray and the land-and-time artists of the 1970s and 80s. In Do What You Love Until You Die, Breaux’s vibrant and distinctive landscape paintings of Ojai alongside drawings and sculptures which bring elements of that landscape to life. Fusing influences from Pop Art and Surrealism, Breaux’s art presents a new vision of Ojai that is playful. Meditative and enigmatic. The exhibit runs to Aug. 30th.
More info.
At the annual Great Art Theft (where great art is a steal) local artists have donated paintings, sculptures, jewelry, ceramics and much more to be on display starting Sept. 2nd.

For the mere price of $100, you can own an original piece of art donated by these artists (art valued at much more than the price of a ticket.) When you buy a ticket, your name is put in a basket and drawn one by one at the gala on Sunday, Sept. 24th. As your name is called you choose your favorite piece. The party starts at 4 p.m. Tickets will go on sale soon. More info.

Serving as a highly personal, insider's guide to the counter-culture movement of the early 70s, the film is inspired by the cult-classic book The Source: The Story of Father Yod, Ya Ho Wa 13, and The Source Family (Process Media), which was written by Isis Aquarian and Electricity Aquarian and edited by director Jodi Wille. The documentary features music by Yo Ha Wa, the band composed of members of the Source Family with Father Yod as lead singer.  The film’s directors, Jodi and Diana, will be present for a Q&A after the film. More info.
