Community Contra Dance Series
Saturday, November 19th, 6:00-9:00PM
Sunday, December 18th, 6:00-9:00PM

For the first time, the Rotary Club of Ojai and the Ojai Valley Lions Club are partnering with the Ojai Art Center, with additional funding from the Disabled American Veterans, Ventura Chapter 24, on a community service project that brings live music, fun, and dance, into our Ojai Valley Community.
Our club mottos (“Service Above Self” and “We Serve”) and goals were so similar that we decided to get together and came up with an idea which went back to a time when having a dance in a town’s hall or community center was not only fun, but an important part of socializing with your neighbors. We have put together a series of Community Contra Dances with a live old-time string band and a caller who will tach the dances—no experience or partner needed.
Contra dance is similar to square dance, but it is done in lines rather than in a four-couple square. At the dance, you will ask different people to dance and get to know your neighbors. The idea is to bring neighbors together in the Ojai Valley, have fun, and to bring live music and dance into peoples’ lives.
Featuring the Casitas String Band with caller Jean Gorrindo on November 19 and Frannie Marr on December 18.
Tickets $10.00 online or at the door.
Per CDPH guidelines, masks are highly recommended, and will be available to all at the door.
