Contrast: Beyond Black and White
A photography exhibit and juried contest at the Ojai Art Center
May 8 to June 4, 2020.
The theme of “contrast” goes far beyond black and white, to include a wide range of juxtaposed opposites. Contrast typically enhances differences that reflect into one another and create a new meaning. There are sensory contrasts such as color, tone, or texture; and conceptual contrasts, for example: new vs. old, rich vs. poor, raw vs. polished. The contrast may also be cultural, social, sexual or political.
