Ojai Art Center Youth Branch Student Actors Get into Character for “Alice in Wonderland”
On August 2, our cast, crew, and talented creative staff present several performances of our somewhat modern interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s classic story.
Ojai Art Center Youth Branch’s philosophy is to give as many students who want lines and play different characters, so every role is double cast. We invite audiences to return to see a different cast.
The message of Alice traveling into Wonderland is applicable to all times and ages.
When asked, some of the cast members from ages 6-16 responded,
Alexa Brenes who plays one of the Alices says, “I think Alice learns not to grow up to quickly and live in the now!”
Zooey Halbrook who shares the role of Alice states, “ I believe Alice learns to accept people for who they are, and a new sense for wonder in the real world
Maisy Hawkins, for whom this is her first play says, “ I believe that Alice learns that she should start enjoying the joys of today, which is a quote by the Mock Turtle.”
Another young newcomer Jane Bueno states, “What Alice learned from being in Wonderland is that she can’t be in control of everything and that she has to wait and have patience.”
Harrison Light a high school student and experienced performer says, “I think Alice learns that everyone is different and that’s okay!”
Tickets are on sale at ojaiact.org or by phone for August 2, 3, 9, 10 @ 7 pm and August 3, 4, 10, 11 @ 3 pm. The cast will greet the audience for a few minutes of Autograph Signing following each performance. Adult tickets are $25.00; youth 12 and under are $10.00.
Parking across the street at Help of Ojai is available forty-five minutes prior each performance for theatre ticket holders for $5.00.

OACT Youth Branch presents
“Frozen, Kids”

Over the summer, 12 young actors joined Director Gai Jones, Kayleigh Turner, Vocal Director, and Sophie Massey, Choreographer who coached the kids in song and dance virtually.
The kids and crew worked really hard with everyone learning many new skills. We can not sell tickets for the final performance but we can accept donations to our program.
Please consider donating, even a small gift is helpful in covering production costs, such as costumes, props, royalties, staffing, etc.
